Argent

A silver-haired girl Nate saved from a berserk golem, Argent looks 6, behaves once like a naive child, once like a sulky teenager and from time to time like a grow up person. She's a walking, talking enigma.

And she likes Nathaniel very, very much. Like a father. Or a brother. Or...

Argent is the cliched 'girl with a mystery'... Only this time she's a little child instead of a sassy 17. She's also the character the title of the comic originates from -- how and why? It's yet to be explained...

Maeve Rill

Everything about Maeve just screams 'nobility'. Her regular face features. Her stormy eyes. Her constantly lifted up chin. She's a walking perfection. Or is she...?

Maeve is a healer, first category. One of the best. She is capable of bringing a person back from the dead -- if the said person has been dead for less then five skipped heartbeats. That's her time limit, and though it seems short, it actually is a kind of a record.

Once she and Nate had a 'relationship' which ended -- and neither can actually verbalize why. Now she's engaged to Malatesta, and asked why she's pusuing that particular relationship she is likely to answer: "Because he says he loves me".

While designing Maeve, I was trying to create a strong female character -- but a bit messed up inside. She has seen a lot and experienced a lot. She has her own set of morals and her own agenda.

Nathaniel Aberdeen

People like to whisper behind his back that he does not deserve everything he has: wealthy estate, friendship of Lord Tybald Tremain... And they may be right, as Nate is just a second category mage... Technically.

His mother, Diana Aberdeen, was one of the most powerful members of the council. And she never mentioned his father's name.

There are many things about Nate that are trivial. Many that are grave. He doesn't like attention and never asks for it; he'd rather pass as a medicore mage than bask in splendour... But he has his reasons.

Nate was the first character I thought of while developing the story and I guess it shows: in manga he would have been your typical dark bishonen. There are many Batman influences as well -- but that's to be seen.

Abigail Tzar

Her family has been assisting the Aberdeen family for centuries -- and she's the current instalment. Not a mage, but her life has been prolonged. Abby could live at least 70 years in good health, sporting the looks of 20 something.

A devoted assistant, Abby harbours something more for her employer than she is willing to show. She's also one of the people he fully trusts... For better or worse.

Abigail started of as a tight brunette -- but evolved into a nice looking blonde. Her character stayed the same as I initially designed. Infatuated. Devoted.

Angus Malatesta

Angus is Maeve's fiancee and the chief Healer. Skilled and powerfull, he is also very hot-headed and over-protective, which can be summed up as being jealous.

Angus sometimes treats Meave as a price he had won and hates the very thought of her having some feelings towards other men.

Malatesta is not a good guy per se. He's not a bad guy as well. He started as a rival to Nathaniel and that's his part, mainly. Though I can't say it's not going to change sometime in the future...

Ashi Quoyle

Ashi is a magehunter, she hunts and kills Chaos Mages for a living. A rare, exotic beauty, Ashi hides a secret as well.

Her body has been specially enhanced: she's faster and stronger than a regular human being, has higher resistance to pain and can produce counter-magic (of limited range and power). Skilled fighter and markswoman.

She belongs to the Ti'ari, a tribe known for their spirituality, mystic rituals and general aversion to technological advances.

Ashi came to being suddenly and unexpectadly, when I was looking at my female characters and found them wanting. She is the strong one, but she also has a heart. At some points similar to Maeve (she took some of the healer's personal qualities, actually), she's definatelly less undecided and stronger mentally. And she seeks a strong counterpart.

Diana Aberdeen (deceased)

Nathaniel's mother; one of the most powerful mages in her times. She seated on the Council of Three and was a very prominent person.

She died in an accident involving an ancient device; an uncontrollable outburs of ancient magic claimed her life. Natahaniel was only five when it happened, and he was left under the care of the Tzar family and Winston, a young -- at that moment -- butler.

It was rumoured that Diana had a relationship with Tybald Tremain. But neither never affirmed nor denied that.

Though a descendant of the Ti'ari, Diana was never very religious and usually embarced the technological advances. Perhaps that's the reason her name has been erased from the Ti'ari journals.
